All presentations below are designed to be approximately 30 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for Q&A.
This session explores research-backed strategies for academic recovery and highlights the value of a proactive, strengths-based approach to bouncing back. Emphasizing the role of social support, intentional resource use, and a growth-oriented mindset, the presentation focuses on how students can navigate academic challenges while building lasting skills and confidence.
This session explores Perry’s model of intellectual development to help explain why college learning can sometimes feel frustrating. By examining the stages of intellectual growth, students will gain a deeper understanding of their own learning process and discover strategies for engaging with complex, diverse perspectives with greater confidence.
This session reframes failure as a powerful learning opportunity, offering strategies to reflect on setbacks constructively and build resilience. Participants will explore how embracing “effective failure” can strengthen problem-solving skills and foster greater confidence in their academic journey.
This session challenges the idea that resilience is solely an individual trait by examining the social and environmental factors that shape how people develop and draw on resilience during times of adversity. We’ll explore resilience as a collective asset—one that grows through relationships, communities, and shared support—and discuss how we can foster environments that help both individuals and communities thrive.
This presentation offers an in-depth overview of the Bobcats Bounce Back (B3) program, which supports students navigating academic challenges. Attendees will explore the program’s core components, including personalized success strategies, the B3 framework of “Bring to Light, Balance, Build,” and the wide range of academic and basic needs resources available to students. The session also features real stories of student resilience and practical guidance for helping students engage meaningfully with the B3 network. This session is geared toward staff, faculty, graduate student organizations, and graduate-level classes.
